Even though I created in silver, fabric, stained glass and painted on porcelain for more than 20 years, I had always wanted to put my abilities and dreams on canvas. I was able to fulfill this dream when I moved to Ajijic, Mexico, in 2002 where I initially started studying oil painting with Javier Ramos who is a well-known artist and teacher throughout Mexico and California. Since my return to Virginia I have been fortunate to take workshops with Pat Troiani and Karlyn Holman (watercolor); Stephen Walker and Betsy Kellum (oils) Gerald Brommer (collage and design) and several others. Each has helped me define the artist I have become. It has been a long journey and I hope it will continue until I leave this planet. I also design and make fused glass jewelry, which is a lot of fun to make. Believe me, there are many "happy accidents" as strange and unusual things happen to glass when it is being fired in the kiln.
The latest addition to my creative side is to bring teachers to the Fredericksburg area. I started this because I was so enthusiastic about what I was learning I wanted to share it with everyone -- hence my new business.
I have also started teaching, this is something that I had never thought of doing until I was asked. Sharing what I know with others is the most fun and I enjoy it so. You will see more about what I have taught and where in my blog, also look for a listing of any upcoming classes that I have scheduled.
Painting, to me, has changed my life and I hope you will enjoy the results of my journey!
